Yambio County authorities and local food sellers met to address a dispute over a plan to relocate vendors at Yambio Central Market, balancing municipal efforts to reorganize the facility against traders’ concerns for their livelihoods. The meeting, led by Yambio County Commissioner Modi Enosa Baburu, brought together Yambio Municipality Mayor Fozia Abasi, Chamber of Commerce leaders, and local vendors. Traders opposed the relocation, explaining that their businesses depend on foot traffic and farm produce arriving from rural areas. Municipal officials stated that moving the vendors forms part of a broader plan to organize the market into designated zones for specific goods. Commissioner Baburu urged traders and the Chamber of Commerce to identify a suitable alternative location.
