The Kano State Refuse Management and Sanitation Board (REMASAB) has warned roadside traders against dumping refuse on roads and in drainage channels, saying the practice contributes to blocked waterways and environmental pollution. It directed traders operating along France Road, Katsina Road, Maiduguri Road, Zaria Road and Zoo Road to provide waste bins and properly dispose of refuse generated from their activities. It also expressed concern that some traders dispose of refuse at locations shortly after sanitation workers had cleared them. REMASAB said it would continue to enforce environmental sanitation regulations and that offenders could face legal action, including prosecution before the environmental sanitation court.
