Abhijit Nath, NET Correspondent, TripuraAgartala, August 11, 2026: Tripura Transport Minister Sushanta Chowdhury has asserted that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will retain power in Tripura in the 2028 Assembly elections and form the government again at the Centre in 2029 under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Speaking to media personnel at BJP state headquarters here on Tuesday noon, Chowdhury said the BJP was prepared to face the opposition and dismissed the possibility of a return of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) to power in Tripura. Chowdhury also targeted the Congress, accusing it of maintaining “friendship” with parties in Delhi while engaging in political conflict in Tripura. The Minister further dismissed the possibility that any agitation or mass movement against the BJP governments at the state or Centre would succeed. “We are ready to face the opposition,” he said, expressing confidence that the BJP would retain power in Tripura in 2028 and return to government at the Centre in 2029.
