A Newton County man has been sentenced to 15 years in prison after pleading guilty to two counts of first-degree child molestation. Prosecutors say Rogers later admitted to detectives that he molested the victim. Five months later, another person came forward and accused Rogers of sexually abusing her as a child approximately 18 years earlier. Newton County Prosecuting Attorney William Lynch said the sentence sends a clear message to those who prey on children. Lynch added that Rogers has a serious ongoing medical condition and could spend the remainder of his life in prison.
