U.S. tightens visa scrutiny over unpaid medical bills(Kaieteur News) – The United States Embassy in Guyana on Monday issued an advisory warning persons reapplying for visitor’s visas that they must provide proof that any medical bills incurred during previous treatment in the United States have been paid in full.
“Make sure to gather these documents ahead of time to help ensure a smooth visa application process,” the embassy advised.
The embassy is also encouraging travellers to purchase travel insurance before visiting the United States to ensure that they are covered in the event of a medical emergency.
Going further, the embassy clarified that emergency medical treatment would still be provided to persons whose lives are at risk.
“To be clear: the U.S. government will always ensure emergency medical care is provided to someone whose life is at risk.
