Norway cod farmer Ode has achieved the Aquaculture Stewardship Council (ASC) certification, making it the world's first cod producer to meet the standard. ASC began certifying Atlantic cod in 2025, incorporating the species into the revised ASC Salmon and Cod Standard v1.5. "This is an important milestone for Ode, our customers, and the broader cod industry. The ASC ensures that companies operate according to sustainable principles, prioritize animal welfare, and act in a socially responsible manner," said Ola Kvalheim, CEO of Ode. The ASC standard imposes stringent requirements across the entire operation, covering both sea-based and land-based production.
