Aden — The International Organization for Migration (IOM) reported that 1,345 Ethiopian migrants stranded in Yemen departed for Djibouti during July via sea crossings from Yemeni shores. According to IOM’s latest Displacement Tracking Matrix report, the number of returnees in July declined by about 3% compared to June, which recorded 1,383 departures. In addition, 304 Ethiopian migrants departed from Al‑Mahra governorate toward Dhofar in Oman, raising the total number of Ethiopians leaving Yemen in July to 1,649. Since the beginning of 2026, a total of 10,879 Ethiopian migrants have left Yemen, including 10,270 to Djibouti and 609 to Oman. Conversely, Yemen recorded the arrival of 110,861 African migrants during the same period, according to IOM data, amid continued migration flows through perilous sea and land routes in the region.
