(Submitted/Bend-Redmond Habitat for Humanity)Bend City Council approved $1 million in affordable housing support in east Bend. The projects will be spearheaded by Bend-Redmond Habitat for Humanity and Thistle & Nest. The funding is from Bend’s affordable housing fee, established in 2006, and came with the recommendation of the city’s affordable housing advisory committee. Habitat for Humanity buyers complete homebuyer education and financial coaching before purchase. Thistle & Nest also uses a land trust model.
