Born in Hexham, Mr Elliott moved to Carlisle from Haltwhistle with his family aged 10 and attended Pennine Way Primary School and St Aidan's. Mr Elliott said he did not feel at risk to himself that day. A week later, on October 16, Mr Elliott returned to Recovery Steps and appeared to be making progress. He described feeling 'brighter' and 'much more positive about things', while saying he intended to continue engaging with mental health services. "Particularly in the cases where young men die, because what we know, certainly in Cumbria, is that there is a disproportionate number of young men who take their own lives.
