A Ukrainian Air Force pilot was forced to eject from a MiG-29 after an air to air missile malfunction caused the aircraft to catch fire in midair. While flying a counter-unmanned aerial systems (C-UAS) sortie over Odesa Oblast in southwest Ukraine an unspecified malfunction occurred while launching an air to air missile that caused the fighter aircraft to catch alight. Ukraine’s Air Force confirmed the loss of a MiG-29 fighter during a combat mission against enemy aerial targets over Odesa Oblast on August 10. Ukrainian authorities publish photos from the crash site of a MiG-29 fighter jet in Odesa Oblast. Authorities are investigating the MiG-29 crash to determine the root cause.
