RNLI Seahouses was placed on standby at 9.51pm on Saturday, August 8 to help transport firefighters to Holy Island, where crews from Berwick were battling a large blaze. With the Holy Island Causeway impassable due to the high tide, the RNLI's lifeboat was needed to provide an alternative route for the emergency crews. Fortunately, as the Alnwick firefighters arrived in Seahouses, RNLI volunteers received a stand-down call. Fire crews on Holy Island had contained the blaze and no further assistance was required. The Seahouses RNLI team is keen to remind the public that their work relies on a broad team effort.
