Alongside his older brother, defensive lineman Doug Brooks, Dalton helped lead the Shiner Comanches to back-to-back state titles in 2020 and 2021. Dalton and Doug attended separate colleges, with Doug playing his final season at Texas A&M-Kingsville in 2025, but the idea of longtime teammates followed Brooks to Texas A&M.
