Cumbria, Northumberland, Tyne and Wear NHS Foundation Trust (CNTW) said the service had been temporarily relocated from Ward 31A at Newcastle's Royal Victoria Infirmary to Gibside Ward at St Nicholas Hospital.
The trust said the move followed notice from Newcastle Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust that Ward 31A had to be vacated.
A CNTW spokesperson said: "The move supports continuity of care and staff expertise while maintaining local inpatient provision.
"This is an interim measure while a wider review of adult eating disorder services takes place."
The trust said it was considering longer-term options for the service following engagement with patients, carers, staff, partner organisations and other stakeholders.
