It had been re-registered as a Russian vessel a few days previously. It was then taken to the Moray Firth where 28 people were held without charge and without access to consular assistance for close to three weeks. Mr Kalandadze pleaded guilty to failing to obey orders from a Coast Guard vessel and was last week sentenced to 10 months in prison. The ship itself was also taken across the Atlantic, and was quietly sold for scrap last month. Mr Kalandadze agreed a plea deal in the United States, and will be deported at the end of his 10 month sentence.
