Consultation closes on Northumberland farm plan for 1.67 million chickens a year

Hexham Courant | News
Northumberland County Council's (NCC) consultation on plans by A Suddes & Son to build four poultry houses on land west of Well House Farm, near Colwell, ended on Friday (August 7), following several extensions.
The parish council said it believed those omissions called into question "the accuracy, completeness and usefulness" of the latest assessments.
The applicants have submitted further technical material during the consultation, including a revised environmental statement and health impact assessment.
The revised environmental statement says the development would create two full-time equivalent jobs and argues the poultry enterprise would help diversify and support the long-term viability of the farm.
Richard and Georgie Suddes previously said the business needed to adapt because of "falling income and rising costs".
