Construction works were spotted at the unit - which has been empty for nearly two years - last Thursday (August 6), with barriers now installed around it. The Brewery shopping centre, where the former restaurant is located, has since confirmed that discussions are "ongoing" with several brands about the unit. A Brewery spokesperson told the Recorder: "We're pleased to confirm that discussions are ongoing with a number of prospective brands regarding the vacant unit. TGI Fridays Romford shut nearly two years ago after the company fell into administration in September 2024 and was not saved, despite a rescue deal. The unit has remained vacant ever since.
