The Chequers in North Street will see new signage, a fresh layer of paint and a refurbished car park soon, according to manager Danielle Cassar. When discussing business since the boozer reopened after a month-long enforced closure in April, Danielle revealed that plans are in the pipeline for the works. The boozer was shut for four weeks in April after an incident involving "chairs thrown" and "punches and kicks delivered." "It’s one of those things where if they go somewhere else and settle somewhere else, there's the chance they might not come back. "We’re grateful to all our regulars that support us but also that supported us when we were shut as well."
