It exchanges models and production data with Autodesk Maya, Autodesk 3ds Max and Autodesk Flame through FBX and Autodesk Send To workflows, while an SDK provides an integration point for developers. Autodesk has started the retirement process for Mudbox, its long-running digital sculpting and painting application. The first deadline has already passed: Autodesk ended new sales and renewals of three-year standalone Mudbox subscriptions on August 7, 2026. Autodesk says customers with a Media & Entertainment Collection 2027 subscription will continue to receive Mudbox, but the 2027 Collection is the final version of the bundle that will include it. The collection contains Mudbox in its 2027 generation, but Autodesk explicitly says that generation will be the last collection version to include it.
