“They Call Him Smiley”: Grandmother Mourns After Fatal CrashDelphina Brooks says she will never forget the moment she saw her grandson Theodore “Smiley” Swazo lying on a hospital bed after Sunday morning’s deadly motorcycle crash. Swazo was one of three people killed in the crash on Mahogany Street around 2 a.m. on Sunday. Brooks said she was told Swazo was riding with friends when his helmet fell off and the group turned back to retrieve it. Brooks described her grandson as well liked in the community and devoted to his young daughter, whom he had spent time with just days before the crash. Brooks does not believe the crash was intentional but is calling for an end to reckless motorcycle riding.
