Square Books will celebrate the eighth annual Bookstore Romance Day on Aug. 15, with a day of romance-themed activities, crafts, refreshments and giveaways. Bookstore Romance Day, launched in 2019, is an annual celebration of romance fiction and the readers, writers and independent bookstores that make up the genre’s community. As part of the celebration, Square Books, Off Square Books and Square Books Jr. will host a scavenger hunt featuring 12 famous couples from literature, history, science and other areas. Matchbox Matcha will serve its Matcha Blush in the Square Books cafe from 4 to 5 p.m. Customers also can stop by the cafe throughout the day to make an origami heart bookmark, with paper and instructions provided. The raffle drawing will take place at 5 p.m. in the Square Books cafe, and participants must be present to win.
