The Central Bank of Kenya (CBK) has retained its lending rates at 8.75 per cent after the Kenya Bankers' Association (KBA) urged it to maintain the rates.
The Committee will meet again in October 2026," CBK said.
Despite the global pressures, CBK said Kenya's overall inflation remained within the target range in July, but edged up to 6.5 per cent from 6.4 per cent in June.
At the same time, core inflation remained relatively stable at 3.2 per cent, while non-core inflation declined slightly to 15.0 per cent from 15.1 per cent.
However, food prices remained a concern, with CBK pointing to higher prices of Irish potatoes, tomatoes, kale, cabbage, and onions.
