Nigeria’s Internet Data Use Surges 44% to Record High, Reaching N6.6 Trillion in Estimated Value

Monthly data usage climbed 44%, reaching a record 1.50 million TB in May 2026.
Data from the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) show that Nigerians consumed about 15.32 million terabytes (TB) of internet data between June 2025 and May 2026.
Data consumption also covers services beyond the four major mobile operators, including fixed internet providers, internet service providers and VoIP services.
Consumption generally increased throughout the period, rising above 1.2 million TB in October and November and reaching about 1.39 million TB in December.
It recovered to 1.42 million TB in March and 1.41 million TB in April before reaching the May record.
