Greenock parking changes could add spaces and improve access to town centre shops

One proposal would see loading bays converted into parking spaces after 10am, potentially creating 15 additional spaces across the town centre without affecting morning deliveries.
A one-hour parking limit is also being proposed on key streets including West Blackhall Street, Westburn Street, Nicolson Street and Jamaica Street.
The council said this would better support short visits to the town centre, although it would result in reduced parking income.
Bollards are also being proposed along the cycle lane to prevent vehicles from parking illegally.
These include removing the cycle lane, changing the one-way system, scrapping residents’ parking permits and turning the former Babylon Nightclub site into a car park.
