The presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Peter Obi, and his running mate, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, have held talks with the party’s governorship candidates in Bauchi, Sokoto and Borno states as the party steps up preparations for the 2027 general elections.
The party said the engagement was aimed at strengthening coordination among its candidates and political structures ahead of the elections.
In a statement on Monday, the NDC said the meeting provided an opportunity for its leaders to “discuss strategies” and assess the preparedness of the candidates for the 2027 polls.
The party has been intensifying its mobilisation and organisational activities as it prepares to challenge established political parties in the 2027 elections.
Obi and Kwankwaso emerged as the NDC’s presidential and vice-presidential candidates respectively after the party’s special convention held in Abuja in May 2026.
