After sitting out Ramadan for three seasons, Mohamed Ramadan is officially making his comeback — and, as expected, he’s not coming back quietly. The actor is set to lead Ashmawy, a 30-episode series that brings together a new character, a new director, and Ramadan’s first collaboration with filmmaker Peter Mimi. The series will also stick to the classic 30-episode Ramadan format, rather than the 15-episode runs audiences have increasingly gotten used to. The title Ashmawy refers to the Egyptian term associated with an executioner, and Ramadan is set to play one — a character we haven’t really seen him take on before. Sharing an old interview in which Sharif praised his talent, Ramadan wrote that the series would be dedicated to the legendary actor.
