Major activist shareholders have called for a wind-down or liquidation of Gore Street’s energy storage fund, following moves by one in Gresham House’s to launch a sale process. The maneuverings follow a prolonged slump in the share prices of the investment firms' listed UK energy storage funds: the Gore Street Energy Storage Fund (GSF) and the Gresham House Energy Storage Fund (GRID). The two combined have over 25% market share of the UK’s operational battery energy storage system (BESS) capacity. The Board has reiterated that its current strategy remains in the best interests of delivering maximum value to shareholders, so recommends voting against the resolutions. A year ago, RM put out a note titled ‘Shareholder Concerns at Gore Street Energy Storage Fund’ in which it detailed alleged ‘shareholder value destruction’, ‘board governance failures’ and a ‘lack of transparency & shareholder engagement’.
