Kingston Housing Authority officials broke ground this week on a $112 million redevelopment project spanning three properties and comprising of approximately 238 apartments. It’s the second phase of a broader effort to modernize aging buildings and create new senior housing. Built in the 1970s, the apartment complexes at Colonial Gardens (206-208 Flatbush Avenue) and Wiltwyck Gardens (195 Albany Avenue) will be rehabilitated, while the 32-unit Penn Court complex will be demolished and replaced with an 80-unit senior housing facility. Thirty of those units will be reserved as supportive housing for formerly homeless seniors. Another 19 units will be specially built for residents with impairments and disabilities.
