Kingston courts developers for former Irish Cultural Center property
[]
Hudson Valley One
Kingston has issued a call for developers interested in reshaping two long-troubled parcels on Abeel Street.
The request covers 32 Abeel Street and 33-39 Abeel Street, both recently donated to the city by the Irish Cultural Center Hudson Valley.
The Common Council voted 7 to 1 in June to accept the properties after the Irish Cultural Center abandoned its long-stalled plan to build a headquarters at 32 Abeel Street.
Site improvements at 32 Abeel Street include water and sewer connections and new bluestone sidewalks.
The neighboring 0.266-acre parcel at 33-39 Abeel Street was meant to serve as a parking lot for the cultural center, but no work was ever done there.
