Police fire baton round as man barricades himself in property and 'throws items from a window'The incident took place as officers attended an address following reports of a serious assaultView Image PSNI stock image (Image: PressEye)Police fired an AEP after a man barricaded himself in a property and threw items from a window as officers attempted to make an arrest for a serious assault in Derry. ‌A man then reportedly barricaded himself inside a property and began to throw items out of the window. ‌An AEP is described as a less-lethal baton round which is used to lesser the risk of severe or fatal injuries. ‌A Police Spokesperson said: "After the report was received, officers attended an address in the Argyle Street area at around 10.45pm, in order to effect an arrest. "A male barricaded himself in the property and began throwing items from the window.
