Same-day delivery of perishables is becoming increasingly popular among Amazon customers, the company said in a conference call with analysts discussing its second-quarter results. Amazon now offers same-day perishables delivery in 2,300 cities across the U.S.“We’re just seeing very significant traction in our everyday essentials and in our grocery items,” said Andrew Jassy, president and CEO. As previously reported, Amazon has been rapidly expanding its same-day delivery capabilities and increasingly emphasizing fresh groceries and other essentials as a part of those orders. Through the first half of 2026, Amazon said it delivered more than 40% more items globally either same-day or overnight, compared with the same period last year. The company doubled the number of new Amazon Pharmacy customers in the first six months of 2026 and saw a five-fold increase in same-day prescription deliveries, Jassy said.
