Ahold Delhaize USA said it plans to wind down operations at an automated cold distribution center in Mountville, Pa., by year-end. In addition, Ahold said it will not transition any operations to an automated cold facility in Plainville, Conn., as previously planned. The news comes after the owner of the warehouses, Americold Realty Trust, disclosed its plans to exit the facilities in a financial filing last week. Ahold will share more details on its plans in the near future, a spokesperson for the company told Supermarket News. In addition, Ahold and Americold have agreed to “expand and renew business in other assets” in Americold’s network, the logistics company said in the filing.
