Israeli forces raided the Qalandia refugee camp on the outskirts of Jerusalem on Wednesday, leaving at least eight people reportedly injured in an operation that underscored the continuing volatility across the occupied West Bank.
The Israeli military said the raid was part of an ongoing security operation.
“Security forces are operating in the Qalandia camp area in order to thwart terror and apprehend wanted individuals,” an Israeli military official told AFP.
The operation comes at a time of heightened tensions in the occupied West Bank, where Israeli military raids have become increasingly frequent amid a prolonged security campaign.
Qalandia, one of the largest Palestinian refugee camps, has repeatedly witnessed clashes between Israeli forces and Palestinian residents in recent months.
