Apple could be about to break a major iPhone record. The iPhone 17 is on track to become the longest-running standard flagship iPhone in 15 years, potentially staying at the top of Apple’s mainline lineup for around 18 months. The iPhone 17 launched in September 2025, but reports suggest its standard successor won’t arrive until spring 2027. The iPhone 4 launched in June 2010 and remained Apple’s flagship for almost 16 months. The long wait frustrated customers expecting a completely redesigned iPhone, only for Apple to launch the visually similar iPhone 4S in October 2011.
