Last year’s intermediate champions claimed a famous 0-23 to 2-15 victory to put themselves in contention for the knockout stages after losing narrowly to Dromard and drawing with Abbeylara in the first two rounds.
Mullinalaghta reduced the deficit to two points after the restart, but Liam Keenan’s men held firm to give themselves a great chance of reaching the quarter-finals ahead of their remaining group games against Killoe and Rathcline.
Mullinalaghta, who were without the injured Cian Mackey, will probably need to win their remaining fixtures against Rathcline and Abbeylara to avoid an early exit from the Connolly Cup race.
