DROITWICH Spa CC’s middle order dug in with the bat as the club played out a losing draw against league leaders Bewdley. Bewdley posted 266-7 from their 50 overs at St Peter’s Playing Fields as away opener James Perrett fell 15 runs short of a century. Spa could only manage 164-6 from their 50 overs in reply but recovered from 61-5 as Max Young hit a half-century while Sam Smith faced more than 100 deliveries. Droitwich took seven points from the fixture and sit fourth in the Worcestershire County League Division One table while leaders Bewdley came away with 16 points. However, Young (52) and Smith (40 not out) combined at the crease to frustrate the Bewdley attack in an 82-run sixth-wicket stand.
