Indian peacocks to the UN after 45 yearsIndia has gifted five peacocks, including a rare white one, to the United Nations headquarters in Geneva's Ariana Park. This gift, from Prime Minister Narendra Modi's government, follows a similar donation by Indira Gandhi in 1981. Arindam Bagchi, India's Permanent Representative, formally presented the birds to Tatiana Valovaya, Director-General of UNOG. The four blue and one white peacock symbolize India's rich biodiversity and commitment to conservation, with their colours also reflecting the UN. They deepen India's long-standing association with the UN.
