Mike Bell, leader of North Somerset Council, said: "North Somerset's coastline is one of our area's most valued public spaces. "The Leave Only Footprints message is a straightforward reminder to help keep it clean, safe and enjoyable for residents and visitors. The council has placed the spray-painted footprints at key points along the seafront to catch the attention of visitors as they leave. "The footprints are a visible reminder of that simple message: enjoy the seafront, take your rubbish with you and leave only footprints behind." Even small amounts of litter can harm wildlife and spoil the experience for others, the council said.
