Eswatini Expands Youth Employment Programs as Job Creation Remains a Challenge
[]
fundsforNGOs News
Eswatini is expanding youth employment, training and entrepreneurship programs as the country continues to face a severe shortage of formal jobs.
Youth unemployment stands at more than 53%, while the formal economy creates only around 1,000 jobs each year for approximately 25,000 new labor-market entrants.
Agricultural financing programs from the Regional Development Fund and the National Agricultural Marketing Board were also highlighted, alongside training opportunities in agriculture, handicrafts and digital skills.
The initiative comes as policymakers increasingly focus on ensuring that training programs lead to practical employment and business opportunities.
In May 2025, the World Bank approved the Eswatini Youth Employment Opportunities Project, financed by the International Development Association.
