MATT Richards won a third medal at the 2026 Commonwealth Games after securing silver in the men’s 100m freestyle final in Glasgow. The Droitwich swimmer claimed his first individual medal at the Commonwealth Games after winning double relay bronze earlier in the competition. Richards, representing Wales, took silver after clocking 47.64 seconds as Australia’s Flynn Southam (47.13 secs) and Kyle Chalmers (47.74 secs) won gold and bronze respectively. Chasing his second medal of the Games, Matthew had to settle for fourth as Scotland’s Stephen Clegg (24.73 secs) won gold, South Africa’s Nathan Hendricks (24.84 secs) took silver and Canada’s Nicolas-Guy Turbide (24.96 secs) claimed bronze. Australia’s Kirralee Hayes (27.63 secs) won gold in the event while South Africa’s Danika Vyncke (28.41 secs) took silver in an African record time and Australia’s Jenna Jones (29.02 secs) claimed bronze.
