Huntingdonshire District Council’s development management committee approved the scheme for land east of The Hawthorns, on Pidley Road. The site for two homes approved by Huntingdonshire District Council lies behind the hedge which fronts onto Pidley Road in Somersham. (Image: HDC)Somersham Parish Council objected to the plans, saying they represented “an unacceptable form of overdevelopment” of a rural paddock and would erode the character of the countryside. She also raised concerns about drainage, arguing that details of foul-water arrangements should be resolved before planning permission was granted. Officers concluded that the layout reflected the loose, linear pattern of homes along Pidley Road and would not constitute overdevelopment.
