Alexandra House, in Lonsdale Avenue, has now entered the main demolition phase following weeks of preparatory work. The block is one of two former Alliance Homes tower blocks earmarked for demolition on the Bournville estate, alongside its sister building Hillsborough House on Selworthy Road. An Alliance Homes spokesperson said: "Works at Alexandra House have now reached a significant milestone, with the building entering the main demolition phase. The housing association said the decision to demolish Alexandra House and Hillsborough House was made in 2025 following detailed surveys and expert advice. Alliance Homes said all households have now been successfully rehoused and both buildings have been empty since March 2026.
