The French association of manufacturers of ready-to-use fresh vegetables (SVFPE - Syndicat des Fabricants de Végétaux frais prêts à l'emploi) and Asso Leg 4G have launched a joint campaign highlighting the escalating challenges threatening the ready-to-eat salad and vegetable sector.
A combination of rigid pricing structures and recurring climate-related disasters is leaving the sector and its supply chain increasingly vulnerable, SVFPE noted.
The Asso Leg 4G represents producers of vegetables for the fresh-cut sector in France.
ADVERTISEMENTThe crisis impacts a wide variety of crops – including sprouts, lettuce, Batavia, and chicory – weakening farmers and accelerating the risk of business closures.
Everyone must move beyond short-term concerns and established practices to build the industry’s sustainability for the next 10 years.
