THE LEADERS of Worcester City, Wychavon District and Malvern Hills District Council have written a letter to residents, laying out their plans following the announcement of two unitary authorities in Worcestershire. Announced two weeks ago, the government has made the decision to create a North Worcestershire Council and a South Worcestershire Council, delivering all services from bin collections to roads and social care for children and adults. In the letter, the leaders, Coun Lynn Denham (Worcester) Coun John Gallagher (Malvern Hills), and Coun Richard Morris (Wychavon) said they thought this was the right decision for the county. It has to happen and we are fully behind a South Worcestershire unitary. “You told us it was important to reflect the distinct character of north and south Worcestershire, keep decision-making close to communities and protect the local services people rely on.
