The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Bangladesh and the University of Dhaka have launched a new initiative to strengthen the skills needed to make insurance more accessible to underserved and vulnerable communities across Bangladesh.
The International Certification in Inclusive Insurance is the first structured capacity-building programme of its kind in Bangladesh.
Over four months, the programme trained 10 national trainers and 35 professionals from insurance companies, banks, microfinance institutions, development organizations, research institutions and consulting firms.
The programme concluded on August 8, 2026, with certificates awarded to all 10 national trainers and 35 industry participants.
Representatives from the Insurance Development and Regulatory Authority, the University of Dhaka and UNDP also highlighted the importance of cooperation between regulators, academia, government, development partners and the private sector.
