FM buys wildfire analysis firmFM said Monday it has acquired FortressFire, a wildfire information provider that combines machine learning and physics-based modeling. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed. San Mateo, California-based FortressFire offers tools to assess and mitigate wildfire risk at the individual property level, including aerial reports, monitoring, analytics, ground inspections and mitigation assessments and recommendations, Johnston, Rhode Island-based FM said in a statement. FortressFire will operate as an independent, wholly owned division of FM, retain its brand and leadership and continue to work with insurers, reinsurers, brokers, real estate professionals, lenders and property owners. The acquisition combines FortressFire’s property-specific wildfire intellisgence with FM’s engineering and research capabilities, FM said.
