The Right to Education Act continues to play an important role in India’s efforts to ensure that children have access to free and compulsory elementary education. The Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education Act, 2009, commonly known as the RTE Act, came into effect on April 1, 2010. One of the significant provisions of the Right to Education Act in India is its focus on inclusive access. More than a decade after its implementation, India has made considerable progress in expanding access to schooling.
