Margot Dunn, a cllr from 1994 to 2006 and Mayor of Islington from 2002 to 2003, was described as "kind, open, and affectionate" by those who knew her. Born in Whitechapel in 1930, Ms Dunn moved to Islington in 1965 and quickly became deeply involved in community life. Ms Dunn was elected Mayor of Islington in 2002. She served as a governor at several Islington schools, chaired the first Lay Visitors Panel to Islington police stations, and later became a governor at Whittington Hospital NHS Trust. Ms Dunn was remembered as a "familiar sight" around Islington, often seen riding her tricycle through the streets, and as someone who left a lasting impression on everyone she met.
