But a tiny village in Germany has gone on the market for €390,000 (£333,150) – less than the price of the average London flat.
The unusual opportunity is listed on Kleinanzeigen, a German selling website, with the pitch: ‘Buy an entire village - a property with development potential’.
It was then left empty until 2000 before being used again as a residential site, the owner Franz Eberitsch told the publication, explaining how he assumed it was legal use.
Potential projects suggested include a health and therapy village, a yoga and mindfulness site as well as a sauna and wellness facility.
The private estate village of Lyons, in County Kildare, was listed for sale for €20million (£17.5million) by Sotheby's International Realty.
