Shortly before 1:30am on Monday, August 10, officers witnessed a white Mercedes being driven at excess speed in the middle lane of the motorway, despite not overtaking any traffic. This caused concern for officers and they pulled the vehicle over at junction 16 in Swindon. The driver - a man in his 30s from Edinburgh - failed a roadside breath test and he was arrested on suspicion of drug driving, careless driving and excess speed. Officers also searched the vehicle and he was further arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply class A drugs. He was taken to custody for questioning and has been released under investigation while enquiries continue.
