Namibia is positioning itself as a major player in Africa’s green transition as large-scale green hydrogen projects, renewable energy initiatives and biomass development create new opportunities for investment, jobs and sustainable economic growth. The projects demonstrate two different approaches to Namibia’s green economy. At the Dâures Green Hydrogen Village, green hydrogen production is being developed alongside agriculture and community development across a 15,000-hectare site. The growth of green hydrogen is also being complemented by efforts to develop Namibia’s biomass sector. However, Namibia’s green transition will depend on more than investment and technology.
